The Cottonmouth cables are our gold series of high-end quality audio cables. Cottonmouth cables are made with our own world-famous Snake River Audio CERTIFIED oxygen-free, high-density and purity copper wire which is plated with a minimum of 80 microinches of 24k (.999 pure) gold.

Our Cottonmouth power cables are truly a work of passion. Cottonmouth Series of 15A US/IEC power cables are hand-crafted one at a time with meticulous attention to detail. We start by taking our own world-famous Snake River Audio CERTIFIED oxygen-free, high-density and purity copper wire which is plated with a minimum of 80 microinches of 24k (.999 pure) gold. Not just one or two, but SIX strands are double-weaved to create a heavy, 14 gauge wire. But that’s not enough! We cover this heavy combination wire with a sublime ether-based polyurethane coating. Three of these lines are then anti-parallel braided to minimize cross-contamination, creating superior integration and protection that is unrivaled. But we’re still not through! This amalgamation is then covered by an abrasive-resistant, eye-catching nylon braiding. Our own Snake River Audio 24k Gold-plated connectors on the ends make this truly one of the industry’s top cables available.

Sound

This power cord has wonderful textural details, transparency, and natural color. It balances tactility that could be felt in the strums of guitars – with an overall cleaner sound. It’s also one of the more quieter cables on this list.

The tonal color is more of a neutral-ish warm with a silky-grey texture. It has more blood flowing through it over many of the neutral cables – but not quite at the level of the aforementioned warmer ones. Slightly “beautified” if you will. It has wonderful focus and imaging but sounds tighter in depth.

I find the highs to be accurately portrayed while the lows are palpable and with great slam and authority. It doesn’t, however, have a laser-focused image. But I feel the musical pieces are connected in a way to form a believable and solid presentation. It also does well with tonal gradations – which most power cables struggle with.

Overall, a wonderful sounding and beautifully built power cable. As you’ll see soon, his bigger brother, the Cottonmouth Signature, steps it up quite a bit.

Who should buy this cable?
If you prefer a chill and more organic sound. It trades some of the “special effects” for a more holistic listen. You get a glimpse into the beauty and techniques of the performers. It’s surprisingly quiet and vivid – yet smooth and well-formed.

Tradeoffs
Comes off a little flatter with a soundstage and layering that doesn’t go very deep. Not the meatiest of sounds.

Notes
Organic, super quiet, relaxed, warm-ish, alive, neutral colored voices.
