I was chilling to Alexandr Misko’s latest album, Beyond the Box, this past weekend. At first blush, you would think it’s a band of guys just jamming it out. Turns out – it’s just one dude. One very talented dude.
Solo performance without compromise. Vocals, bass line, rifts, and every dam nuance – on a single guitar. The 21-year-old Russian has an incredibly unorthodox and world-class technique. I highly recommend giving his latest album a listen.

A formidable talent for sure, but, wow, am I ready to bail after 5 minutes.
Stanley Jordan did basically the same thing in the late 80's and early 90's. As he progressed, he added a drummer & bassist and even got to the point that he was playing guitar and piano simultaneously. It was incredible to behold.
Both of them have the same problem: the music, even the covers, wasn't that interesting to listen to after a few songs. It's the same sounds and techniques ad infinitum. It gets boring.
